7,000 self-tests done at the universities – Only one was positive
After several weeks of successful mass testing of UiO’s students, the offer is now extended to seven more educational institutions.
— We think and hope that self-testing will contribute to students being able to return to a more normal study situation and be present on campus, says the director of SiO Health, Trond Morten Trondsen.
Following a successful pilot project of mass testing of UiO’s students, SiO Health has now extended the offer.
Now you’re also going to do the test on your own. The result appears on the test stick after 15 minutes. If the test is positive, you have to isolate, fill out a form on the website of Helsenorge and call the corona phone. Few students had to do this last week:
— Approximately 7,000 self-tests were done last week, of which only one was positive, Trondsen says.
Extending the offer
So far, SiO has sent 20,000 self-tests to UiO, Oslomet, Kristiania University College, BI, Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Oslo School of Architecture and Design, Norwegian School of Sport Sciences and VID Oslo.
Trondsen informs that they have not set a date for when the self-testing at the campuses will end. This will be decided by the City of Oslo.
— Are you planning for continued use of self-testing for the start of the semester after the summer?
— We have to talk about this with the City. Considering the findings we have seen from the SHoT survey, it is important to work for a start of semester in the fall that is as normal as possible for the students. We believe that both vaccination and rapid tests can be important tools in accomplishing this.
