Yes, forbid ‘Niqab’ and Hijab!

Concerning the debate about ‘Niqab’, which Lars Gule has aroused, I would like to participate by a few words. First of all, I believe that forbidding hijab or niqab has nothing to do with violating ones freedom. On the contrary, wearing them is against freedom. Women do not like to hide themselves like what is suggested by Islam. They do not want to be put in seclusion. Islam imposes hiiab, niqab, burkah…etc. on women.

Let us attend this verse from the Koran: ‘And stay in your houses with dignity, and do not show off yourselves like the showing off of the former days of ignorance…’ (chapter Al-Ahzab, 34). And another verse states: ‘And say to the believing women that they restrain their eyes and guard their private parts, and that they disclose not their natural and artificial beauty except that which is apparent thereof, and that they draw their head-coverings over their bosoms, and that they disclose not their beauty save to their husbands, or to their fathers…’ (chapter Al-Nur, 32).

In such a way, Islam does not allow women to wear, as they like because their bodies seduce men! Have a look at Saudi Arabia, Iran, Afghanistan…etc (where Islam is dominant). Those societies have become like an immense grave where the bodies of women are buried and where their rights are squeezed. If not the jails, not the «Zainab Sisters Committee» (in Iran), not lashing, not any other governmental and non-governmental pressure, the women of these countries all throw their hijabs and burkahs. There are surely people who like to apply that regulation of the Koran and wear them, but the vast majority of the women are against them. Hijab, niqab and burkah have become symbols of those systems and even much more Islamic groups. The pressure and weapon to be raised, so women will practice their freedoms.

Now, in Norway, people are free to wear hijab or whatsoever in the streets. But, in the universities or the high schools, it should never be allowed. In The formal and official places no religious symbol can be allowed. If we allow Niqab and Hijab, followers of the other religions will ask theirs to be allowed as well. All the religious symbols have to be forbidden.
