March is a tricky month. It is a well-known fact that if one survives March, one may no longer face despair. All you need is balance. Get out of your comfort zone. But also, chill. Do not take things too seriously. And most importantly, do not get as drunk as a Norwegian at Holmenkollen.
Already on Wednesday you can start working on that sweet, sweet zen. Bydel Bjerke holds free tai chi basement sessions every Wednesday. Not sketchy at all. Why not release your inner chill?
On Thursday, chill again. Cinema Neuf kicks off this year’s 16mm Film Festival. Let your eyes see the mighty sci fi classic «Metropolis» again, this time accompanied live by Sigurd Borge Kristoffersen’s spacey musical extravaganza. Words and shrooms unnecessary.
Alternatively, if you don’t mind the hassle, you might get an early glimpse of «The Death of Stalin» at Saga. Free tickets can be picked up starting at 3 PM, and the screening begins at 6 PM. Perfect for a second date with three hours making-out time.
Sad because International Women’s Day is over? Already had your first period? Then you are welcome to the Red Tent Temple on Friday, where sisters can be themselves and connect spiritually. «Young women are welcome if they begun their moon cycles.» Spooky but kind of intriguing. Donation optional (aka free).
On Friday, chill your broke student ass by spending a ridiculous 50 NOK on the excellent Amjad Ali Khan in concert with Norwegian Radio Orchestra at NRK.
The loppemarkeder (flea markets) are back! Be sure to check the first ones out this weekend.
Continue your relaxation with some of the opera’s less polished jewels singing on a balcony. Because it’s cozier that way. And cheaper: another 50 NOK.
Who knew! Apocalyptica is still up and running, and in Oslo Konserthus, too! The price here is ten times our budget, but if you love them, don’t miss it. You won’t be able to chill if you do, anyway.
If you are not chilled enough by now, try getting a second-hand ticket for a musical «bath» a the Vigeland museum. Both Sunday sessions are sold out, but you might be able to snag an extra from someone. Looks like people of Frogner also need a way to deal with all the stress of being rich.
