Cultural Calendar: April

Ready to make the most of April in Oslo and find out why you should finally read that crime book that has been sitting on your shelf? Here’s your guide to the highlights of this month!

One of the things that makes April in Oslo so special is the excitement of riding a true weather rollercoaster. One day you’ll enjoy the sunshine, and the next you'll be greeted by a fresh, thin blanket of snow (or just rain, thanks to the climate change that is dooming us all). But with the snow melting away and the first flowers beginning to bloom, Oslo is awakening in a way that’s uniquely Norwegian.

Queer Your Spring

Pride month is slowly approaching, but let’s be real, while so many governments and people continue to target LGBTQ+ rights, it is always a good time to celebrate their communities and culture. There are many ways to do this, from donating to queer collectives, to standing up for LGBTQ+ rights everywhere. And, of course, by supporting LGBTQ+ owned businesses! In Oslo, you can check out London Pub (one of the oldest LGBTQ+ spaces in the city) with its weekly karaoke nights on Tuesdays and Drag Bingo on Thursdays.

If you are not part of the LGBTQ+ community, keep in mind that some spaces and events are dedicated to amplifying LGBTQ+ voices and some events are only open to specific communities.

What to bring: respect, open-mindedness, kindness and inclusivity!
