Maybe the weekend won't be quite this sunny, but we can dream.

Happy Waffle Weekend! And seven other activities...

This week has finally introduced above-freezing temperatures; the sun is out and Easter is nearly upon us. Therefore, we have brought to you a wide variety of things to do this weekend to make the most of it.

On Thursday evening three galleries open their doors for Free Art Night in the Barcode area. Varied in form and style there is bound to be something for everyone at the three participating galleries. The Munch Museum’s exhibit tells the story of Oslo City Halls unique interior artwork via artwork and sketches. For those landscape lovers, the Shoot Gallery exhibit of prints displays impressions of the Montserrat mountain in Spain. Perhaps most interestingly is the exhibition entitled Cat Portrait and Other Works at Kunsthall Oslo Contemporary Art.

Or, if you need to justify a Thursday evening off as some way related to your studies, why not practice your Norwegian listening to a Norwegian poetry slam night? Uhørt bar is hosting SLAM poetry and there will be music too.

For the football fanatics or those just wanting a day out of the library, Friday brings a friendly football match between Norway and Australia at Ullevål Stadion. Tickets are relatively cheap ranging from 74-300 NOK.

This Friday, Sofar Sounds has arranged another secret, exciting and completely unique comedy evening in Norwegian. The location of each concert is not revealed until the day before, and it can be anything from a private home to famous location. It’s even a Bring Your Own Beverage night. Apply for tickets before they all go!

From Friday until Sunday various events will run as part of the Oslo International Rumi Festival. The 13th Century Persian poet known as Rumi has influenced and inspired many diverse cultures. From storytellers to concerts and throat singers, the opening concert is this Friday and ticket sales open on the same day.

Grab yourself a bargain this Saturday and do some good whilst you are at it. Norway’s Salvation Army, Fretex Universitetsgata, are hosting a jumble sale offering anything from furniture to clothing. All proceeds go to the charity and it is perfect timing for a spring clean.

It is Waffle Weekend! Sunday 25 March is the annual Norwegian Waffle day, so take a trip down to The Waffle Day at Mathallen Food Hall in Vulkan, or the Waffle Weekend at Vippa which hosts multiple international food stands.
