Disco (workout), an (un?)lucky party, and ByLam (not by:Larm) will make this a winning weekend.

Oslo has been pretty food-festival happy for the last few weeks, and this one is no exception: on Thursday, Youngstorget will host ByLam, devoted entirely to lamb, and featuring music curated by by:Larm (the slightly more well-known music festival). You might ask, do we really need an entire day devoted to lamb, and have things gone too far? I say not far enough. Bring on the lamb!

Pull yourself together for Friday, and work hard to earn that beer later. UiO Writing Center is hosting «Shut up and Write,» which is exactly what it sounds like. Write for 45 minutes in the company of others, take a 15 minutes break, rinse and repeat. Bring a project you need to make progress on and watch the magic happen. It might not be the coolest way to spend your Friday, but you’ll thank yourself later.

After a few hours hard work, move on to partying; you don’t even have to go far. SVFF is holding a Friday the 13th party in U1, down in the basement of Eilert Sundts Hus. It’s supposed to be an unlucky day, but maybe you’ll manage to get lucky nonetheless.

Disco music and working out – a winning combination? Find out on Saturday, when SiO Athletica is holding a disco workout class. You don’t have to be a member to join, and it’s free.

Want more music? We live in one of the most concert-heavy cities in the world, and Saturday is full of them as usual. For something off the beaten path, try ULYDIG – or «disobedient» in English. This project housed at Chateau Neuf features female hip-hop artists, with Katie Keller and lilleStine this week. Their lyrics might be Norwegian, but good vibes are universal.

My idea of a tranquil Sunday is a cup of tea or coffee at Fuglen. Wake up and have a languid morning, then head to the café after 10 AM to read a newspaper, catch up on school, or tinker with a project. Whether you’re getting ahead of work for the week or simply relaxing, it’s a satisfying way to cap off the weekend.
