Inspecting the University

The Directorate of Labour Inspection recently carried out

a three-day inspection of the learning environment at

the University of Oslo. The inspection uncovered a number of

possible breaches of the University Act in the internal

communications system. Specifically, it appears that

complaints regarding the learning environment are not always

brought to the attention of the Committee for Learning

Environment. The Faculty of Law’s vice-dean, Finn

Arnesen, declines to take action before the Directorate

presents its full report.

Following a productive partnership between the

International Student Union, the Student Parliament and

Universitas, Universitas is set to increase the number of

English articles published on its Internet edition. As of April, an additional three to four stories are to be translated

and published on the Internet every Wednesday. Following an

application from the Student Parliament, the University of

Oslo is to carry the cost, amounting to NOK 27 000.
