Fewer Would-be Barristers

Publisert

The number of students applying to read for the bar has fallen by 20 per cent over the past two years. Simultaneously, the threshold to enter the final stage of a barrister\'s training has sunk from 2.65 to 2.95, making it easier for students who have completed the first two years of their legal studies to read for the bar.

Rolf Linum Bjerkhem and Mathias Teir Pettersen, who entered the final period of their legal training in January, think that the negative development of the employment market and the media\'s focus on the pressure on law students may have dissuaded law students from continuing their training.
