Næringsmiddeltilsynet (The Norwegian Food Control Authority) has come with a number of complaints concerning the Student cafés routines with regard to hygiene. In its report of December 2002 following an inspection of the Frederikke café, Næringsmiddeltilsynet observed that the freezer lacks automatic temperature control, and that the main kitchen at Frederikke needs regular disinfection following cleaning. In addition, the temperatures in the food counter in Frederikke are too high, reducing the quality of the food. The Tex-Mex restaurant El Charro was criticised for failing to prove that food is heated at plus 60 ° C.
