Universitas in English
From this issue forward, three or four of the most important stories will be translated into English and published on the web site.
Egil Ellenes has recently been employed by Universitas as a translator. His background includes a degree in Translation Studies from Agder University College and Journalism from the University of Salford in Manchester.
Excited to begin
Vegard Kristiansen Kvaale, editor of Universitas, explains that there were close to 40 applicants for this position.
“We are very excited and believe that stories published in English on the web site will be an important contribution to Universitas as a newspaper, and a top offer to international students. This has come as a result of vast cooperation between us, the International Students` Union, the Student Parliament and the University.”
Megan Luck from England, a student at the Faculty of Humanities, has participated in the project.
“I think that these efforts will give the international students the chance to become a larger part of the University in a number of areas,” she says.
