Green alternative
It may not come as a big surprise that newcomers Grøn Liste (GL, literally «Green list») want more focus on environmental issues.

- If the University wants, it could be an inspiration to others when it comes to increased environmental awareness, Lars Erik Stuberg says, who is representing the budding parliamentary candidates from GL.
GL has roots in a youth section of the Norwegian Centre Party called Senterstud and is running for the first time this year at the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Social Sciences. According to themselves, they are not a Centre Party project, but the politicians do not deny similarities with youth organisations such as Natur og Ungdom (Nature and Youth) and Ungdom mot EU (an organisation of youths against the EU).
- GL’s policies are practical, down-to-earth and student friendly, group leader Marianne Granheim Trøyflat says.
- Many people feel that the Student Parliament deals with matters that are not of their concern. We aspire to change this, Trøyflat says and rattles off:
GL wants more organic food in the cafeterias, more sorting of rubbish, cheaper and better food, more fruit and vegetables, improved availability of study halls and last, but not least: free condoms at the faculty pubs.
Improved environment
Furthermore, GL feels that UiO needs to undertake some serious measures to acquire an improved environmental image.
- Blindern is the local community of students. It is here that we spend much of our time, and with that in mind, UiO needs to take a larger responsibility for the health and well-being of students, Stuberg says.
Stuberg and Trøyflat have already managed to single out possible voters.
- We primarily target first-time voters and those with a political and ideological standpoint beyond the factor that they belong to a certain faculty. GL is, however, still undecided on a few matters. We will be open to opinions from students and wish to keep an open dialogue with them, Stuberg says.

- Grøn Liste is another addition of political groups in student politics. GL fronts environmental issues and has roots in the student organisation of the Norwegian Centre Party.
- The Student Parliament is the highest student authority at UiO. The Parliament presents student matters before UiO.
- This year’s Student Parliament Election, where students cast their votes, is scheduled to take place by the end of March/beginning of April.
- Here are your voting alternatives: Moderat Gruppe, Sosialdemokratene, Venstrealliansen, Fakultetslistene, Grøn Liste and Morbus Medicus. (Karl Johans-lista will not be running this year.)
