Deans Support Students
Postgraduate students at a number of faculties have been protesting against new University restrictions on printouts to a maximum of 100 per term. Several deans back the students. Nils Christophersen, dean at the faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, says that the limit of 100 appears to be an entirely arbitrary number. Tor Egil Førland, Christophersen objects to the fact that the deans were not consulted in the decision. He explains that the quota of 100 is not even sufficient to cover the compulsory essays the students must hand in every term, and points out that the reform thus undermines the recently introduced Quality Reform. If students are to obtain access to compulsory reading at his faculty, they must print out somewhere between 1000 and 2000 copies.
SAIH Changes Tack on Tellhim
Following criticism from NSU (the Norwegian Students’ Union) and Studentenes Landsforbund (the National Association of Students), SAIH (the students’ solidarity fund) has decided to withdraw its support from the antiBush Tellhim action.
