Better Discounts for Non–Students

Private companies such as the hotel chain Rica and trade unions such as the Medical Association have obtained a 15% discount on long–distance railway tickets for their members without paying a penny; students however receive 10 to 40% discounts, despite the fact that the state annually forks out millions of kroner in order to ensure student discounts. Alfred Bjørlo, representing the Transport Ministry, and the National Students\' Union demand that students be treated equal to other interest groups.

Marks in Chaos

The National Council for Studies in Psychology has decided that all psychology students are to be regarded as a single group when using the Gaussian curve to calculate students\' marks. As a result, postgraduate students are likely to be awarded As and Bs, while undergraduates are likely to be awarded Cs, Ds, and Es. Psychology undergraduates will in other words appear less able than students of other disciplines, where marks are awarded differently.

Rector Arild Underdal is concerned at the decision, which implies that students of psychology will be assessed differently to other students. – A joint national scale of marks is entirely dependent on the scale being practiced equally, he says.
