International Students Get No Choice

Students coming to the University of Oslo on exchange programmes are given no choice regarding their student accommodation. Most are given student accommodation at Kringsjå, with negative results for integration, says Arlene Pearce, president of the International Student Union (ISU). Christina Rolfheim Bye, Communications Director at SiO (The Students\' Association), explains that international students are normally housed Kringsjå or Sogn because that is where furnished and cheap accommodation is available. Although they may apply for re–location once they have moved in, Pearce points out that the information concerning this is faulty.

Students Critical of Clemet

Minister of Education Kristin Clemet has found little favour among students at the University of Oslo, according to a recent survey. 43.2 per cent of those asked where either dissatisfied or highly dissatisfied with her achievements as Minister for Education. The leader of Høyre\'s student organization, Toril Roberg, says that Clemet\'s brisk approach has made her an efficient, but controversial Minister. The University\'s rector Arild Underdal emphasizes that Clemet has done an admirable job with regard to securing good budgets for the higher education sector, and implementing a quality–oriented reform process.
