Parliament Remains Neutral
The Student Parliament last weekend voted in favour of maintaining a neutral stance towards the possible war in Iraq. Silje Rygland, of Sosialdemokratene (The Social Democrats), criticizes the organisation for failing to take a more decisive stand against war. The Parliament\'s representative for international affairs, Sven Tore Relling, does not think a public resolution against war is part of the Parliament\'s mandate. We have been elected to represent all students, he argues. Some may be ambivalent. Kamil A. Azhar, leader of NSU (The Norwegian Students\' Union), thinks it unlikely that NSU will vote to oppose a war in the national board meeting during the coming weekend.
