Gendering Philosophy
The University Senate has rejected a recent proposal for a new syllabus for ex.phil., the compulsory course in introductory philosophy. The reason is that the new syllabus does not contain enough literature on women philosophers. Camilla SerckHanssen, one of five members of the academic committee responsible for the proposal, points out that women have only been able to contribute to philosophy on a par with men in recent times.
